I love my whiskey but the margarita is my favorite cocktail hands-down. There is something magic about that tequila, lime and triple sec combination. Forget any of that sugary, store-bought mix.  All you need are these three simple ingredients and you're set. If you want to get kinda fancy, add a float of Ancho Reyes liqueur on top.


2 oz blanco tequila (makes sure it says "100% de agave" on the bottle!!)

1 oz triple sec– preferably Cointreau

1 oz fresh lime juice

Garnish: salt and lime wedge


Rim a glass with a lime and dip into salt, then place in freezer. Add fresh lime juice, triple sec and tequila to shaker. Shake with ice until chilled then strain into your salt-rimmed glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wedge. 

Optional: Float 3/4 oz Ancho Reyes liqueur on the top by pouring it over a bar-spoon for even distribution.
